Innovation is the key to global competitiveness in the 21st century. We try to hire the best people for our teams hoping that they will be innovative, but we never discuss what is the “best”. Research shows that diversity is one of the biggest factors the performance of teams. Diverse teams solve problems and create innovative products and designs more efficiently than traditional teams. However, issues such as implicit bias can hinder the recruitment and retention efforts, and building of high-performing teams.
